Meet spunky cute girl Sapphire. Part piebald dachshund - part Beagle? We aren't sure, but what we do know is she is the perfect combo of sass & frass. She is fully grown at ~2 years old and ~15.6 lbs. She is silly & funny & energetic, yet she is also the world's greatest little snuggler. She also happens to be deaf. No big deal for her though...she handles it like a pro. The only thing you need to do is get used to hand signals versus verbal commands. We can give you easy & super helpful tips on living with a deaf dog. Things like a bell for her harness helps you know where she's at, and some simple sign language commands will make life very easy. Sapphire is super smart and super easy to train. She loves to go for leash walks, enjoys sleeping in the big bed with you (but she is crate trained too), is super curious, likes to explore, and really really likes being with her people. She can be a little bit of a resource guarder when it comes to other dogs approaching when she's in a lap, but she is also easily corrected. (We said she was smart.) Sapphire also knows her basic commands. Her trainer said she is an amazingly fast learner. So if you're looking for a super smart, super cuddly, super fun little girl........she just may be the one for you.
If you are interested in adopting Sapphire, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to
dreamhappytails.org/adoptform2.shtml . Sapphire 's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Sapphire will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, teeth cleaned & polished, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
