My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mindy is a sweet, loving 8.5lb small dog mix (we think maltese and chinese crested or havanese, but never sure) that was dumped by her owners and left in the house alone until the landlord found her. She only had toilet water available and was scared, shaking, and sad. Her fur was so badly matted and fingernails so long that she had to be completely shaven down (and sedated) to go through this. She also needed dental work (cleaning), which we did. It was obvious she was neglected. We are guestimating that she is about 8 years old, but still a lot of life left in her (small dogs live LONG) and in need of a forever home. She cries for people and needs a home where an owner is home a LOT and can give her TLC. Probably will do better as a single dog with no kids to really get the attention she deserves. She is spayed, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and in great health. She is currently in Alabama, but foster mom willing to drive half-way to Salem Virginia if someone else can drive from Frederick, MD to avoid putting her on a transport truck. She is a DREAM in the car; just wants to be on someone's lap all the time. Wags to Riches Rescue & Rehab can also help with transport if we find the ideal home.
