My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Garth, aka the big sweet teddy bear, is 1 1/2 yr old male Bernese Mtn Dog/Retriever who is a wonderful dog! He has glossy black long black fur with tan and white markings. Garth and his best friend Brooks were abandoned at their home when their owner was evicted. For a month they survived on the generosity of neighbors helping out until rescue stepped. Both were pretty scared of strangers and would bark when strangers got near. It didn’t take more than a pack of hotdogs to win them over. They adore their foster mom and open up quickly to strangers once they realize no one is trying to hurt them. Garth initially had some hair loss on his back and tail but since then has been completely vetted and is healing nicely. He is playful, gentle and loves people. He weighs approximately 53lbs and is a large dog. He loves to be outdoors or in and is great around kids.

The adoption fee for Garth is $200 and covers all his medical bills including all vaccinations, neuter, microchip, etc. (our rescue never charges more than $200 regardless of how much his bills were). The additional $150 is from an outside transport company that will drive Garth from Alabama to Maryland. (pick-up is in Hagerstown, MD)
