My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zuni Bear is a smaller-sized (50 lbs.), rambunctious one-year-old male Chessie mix who came to us after spending a month in a Central Valley shelter. The shelter was very crowded and noisy and he'll need a little time to relax and acclimate to life 'on the outside.'. Zuni is not quite full grown and probably has a little more filling out to do. He is looking for a home with dog-savvy, firm-but-kind owners who will work on obedience with him, building his confidence and providing him with a quiet sense of security. The shelter staff felt Zuni would be best as an only-dog at home; however, he was apparently just overwhelmed there, because he's been living in a foster home with two older male pitbullgeneric pharmacy mixes for more than two months without incident. The only problem is that he can be a little too energetic for them! Nevertheless, we always recommend a slow introduction to any resident pets. He may become overstimulated by large groups of dogs (such as a doggie daycare or crowded dog park). Zuni is very good (somewhat submissive) with people. He likes to play ball and go for rides in the car. No outdoor-only homes.
