Molly and Baxter are an adorable bonded pair of senior Miniature Pinschers. Molly is approximately 12 years old and 20 lbs. Baxter is approximately 7 years old. Molly and Baxter’s owner died suddenly a few weeks ago. A family member called the police, and said, “While you’re there, grab his dogs. I think there were two of them.” Imagine being Molly and Baxter whose owner just died, left all alone, and then having strange suited people come scoop you up like leftover property and bring you to the scary cold animal shelter. Just LOOK at Baxter’s face! The LOVE! The JOY!
A disappointed distant relative and friend of CBRR&R found out about the choices made by the family and called many other rescues (she can’t take them). Another extremely reputable rescue group with 10,000 likes on Facebook tried to find a home for these dogs to no avail. Their hold time was up, and our Southwest CBRR&R group simply can’t and won’t turn our back on a bonded pair of seniors, even of a breed other than CBRs.

Who We Are
As part of the national Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief & Rescue organization, we are a group of rescuers in the Southwestern Region of the United States. We are dedicated to the Chesapeake Bay Retriever Breed. We have members in UT, NV, AZ, HI, and CA. We rescue CBRs from shelters, owner releases to rescue, strays, etc. We place them in foster care, get to know them, and then adopt them into appropriate homes. All of our pets available for adoption are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, tested for heartworm and started on preventative, and tested/treated for fecal worms. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, you may contact the foster home directly. Please also visit the CBRR&R National Website (http://www.cbrrescue.org) to fill out an online application. A home visit is required before an adoption can take place. This enables us to get to know you and your family to help fit the right dog to the right family. We are also here for support after the adoption if any problems should arise, training questions, any advice needed....we are here to help you and your new pet have a great future together.
Adoption Policies and Fees
Please take the time to thoroughly read about our Adoption Process on our National Web Site. We do require an adoption application and home visit. Our adoption fees range from $150-400; none are given away for free. We believe all Chessies are of value! All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to being placed. Rabies, DHLPP, and bordetella vaccinations are brought current. All dogs are tested for heartworm and fecal worms. Additionally, we incur the cost of other necessary veterinary care, shelter fees, and expenses for food, toys, and treats. If a dog is transported by air, this cost is always paid by the adopter due to the expense. So do expect to pay a fee for a rescue Chessie, but think of what you are getting for that fee. All you add is love!
