My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Coco!

Coco is a sweet love bug who looking to be someone’s best friend. Need a running partner? Coco is your girl. Want someone to warm your side while you mellow on the couch and watch TV? Coco can do that too. She has such a big heart and is ready to steal yours. Who doesn’t want to come home to a big bundle of love who acts like you coming home is the best present they’ve ever received?

An energetic dog, Coco would do best in a home with a yard with a privacy fence where she can run. It may take her a bit to warm to other dogs, but once she does, they are her best friends and she loves to play. Her favorite past times are walks, tug of war and wrestling, though she can be a couch potato when she feels like it.

Coco has no issues going into her kennel when needed, is gentle about taking treats, and is not food aggressive. She may have been picked up as a stray but she behaves well and learns quickly. That being said, she would do best in a home with someone who can be patient with her while she learns to navigate her way in the world.

Many times we also get feral cats or semi-friendly cats (can be petted but doesn't like to be held) needing barn homes. You will need to provide shelter and food. There are not any adoption fees for barn cats (donations are accepted) but you will still need to fill out the cat adoption form. Just list the number of barn cats you are wanting.

Pound Pets volunteers cleans the animal control building, we are the caregivers for the animals brought in. Once they come through the door, they become our responsibility. We photograph all animals and post to the Pound Pets Facebook page. We provide them clean kennels, beds, blankets, toys, treats, outside play time, walks and human interaction. We try to comfort the scared, keep the high-energy ones exercised and provide plenty of love and affection to make their time at animal control as less stressful as possible.

Sometimes they get reclaimed by their families and sometimes they don't. If they don't it is our responsibility to find the adopters, fosters or rescues to save them from euthanasia.

We get in sick and injured animals as well. They do not sit in their kennels or cages needing veterinary care. Once we see the need for care they are taken to the vet. Sometimes the illness or injury is minor and the city will cover the bill, Other times when it's not, we do. We do all of this on our own dime. We buy the food, the beds, the blankets, the toys, and all the other things that go into care for the animals. Sometimes things are donated and that is wonderful!! We pay the medical bills that the city doesn't. As with most animal controls, there is a limit on what they will do or cover. At Pound Pets, there is no limit. Broken Bones, Surgery, Parvo, Heartworm, etc., if the animal has a chance the animal is given that chance. This is not a shelter but an animal control.

Pound Pets Inc Rescue can always use more volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering, the volunteer application is located here:
