Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Scout (Original name was Marco)
Birthdate: September 28, 2017
Breed: Great Dane/Black Lab mix
Sex: Neutered
Weight: 70 lbs.
Microchip: 24PetWatch® Database (Microchip Number: 982000412064845)
Scout is an amazing boy! He is high energy, playful and curious, seeks affection and attention, shows no signs of aggression in unfamiliar situations, loves children and dogs. Completely house and crate trained. LOVES water, especially the rain. Enjoys being outdoors and being active with his people as well has participating in play groups. Polite and excited to meet new people and dogs. He is very tender-hearted and shows concern for people and other animals. His hobbies include car rides to Starbucks, Lowe's, and the park, chasing tennis balls, playing fetch until you (or him) pass out. He is very playful, but he also knows when it is time to settle down and curl up with you on the couch or by your feet while you're working.
Scout is about 17 months old. He was with his original owner since he was a puppy. He was abandoned in November 2018 in an empty house after his owner was evicted. He was given food and water every three to four days. He was picked up by animal control on December 19th after being let loose by the landlord, which was unaware of Scout’s presence in his rental home.
Scout was taken to the local animal control facility on December 19, 2018. He was evaluated as super adotpable but not treated well there either. Upon his surrender as a foster to a wonderful veterinarian, he had a large laceration to his front leg, four abscesses on his face and neck, and several bite wounds on his body, as well as unresolved Giardia but he's all healthy now in every way. The shelter he ended up in had reported to put him with aggressive dog due to space and he never defended himself so had to stay at the vet for a while, he never once fought back though he never broke his amazing spirit and is so grateful to have so much love now!
Scout was fostered for a little over three months. He enjoys people in general and was thrilled with children and other dogs but he was not good with their cat. Scout came with severe anxiety after being abandoned and chews some toys and a cord and highligher but the last three weeks of Scout’s fostering stint he was able to be out in his room at all times without him destroying anything! He has come a LONG way in a short amount of time and is now ready for his forever home!
Scout would do best in a home with room to run and play. A home with a fence would be best and a water source like a lake or pool would be awesome. Scout would enjoy dog siblings as well as human siblings. At 70 lbs., he is an active dog that enjoys hiking, walking and enjoying new places with his people. A family that would make him feel safe and included would be ideal. He is crate trained and house broken, but a family that can dedicate time to him and dote on him would really make this boy happy. Puppicinos from Starbucks are his jam...he prefers if you roll down your window and take him through the drive thru for his order, he likes to be classy and will patiently wait for his order to be handed through the car window to him. Come meet him anytime!
