Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JAZZ IS BEING FOSTERED IN DURHAM, NC. YOU MUST BE WILLING TO DRIVE HERE FOR PICKUP AT ADOPTION TIME. WE DO NOT HOLD ANIMALS UNTIL YOU'RE READY DUE TO OTHER OBLIGATIONS, AND WE DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS, NO EXCEPTIONS.
JAZZ is a male pure bred Maltese. He is 12 yrs old, heartworm negative, has been dewormed, neutered, senior blood work that is GREAT, had a dental this week, a urinalysis to be sure of no issues. This dog is in perfect health and still has plenty of energy to play and romp around.
He rides well in the car, is not destructive in the house and loves to play outdoors in a fenced yard, still enjoys when we go walking with a leash. He is great with small kids (our grandson is 4 1/2), good with other dogs as well. He is about 9lbs.
HIS STORY:
JAZZ was purchased from a breeder when he was a puppy and has only known one home until the last few months. His owner passed away and asked her son to promise he would care for Ruckus and Ruckus (her Bichon, also for adoption) the remainder of their lives. He kept them briefly and put them outside in a fenced yard for several months, and soon tired of caring for them. He took them to a high kill shelter, where the Human Society picked them up so they would not be euthanized. The Humane Society Director called me to see if I would help. They were so matted and dirty and smelled so bad I almost couldn't stand the ride home with them.
As fate would have it, the Human Society Director knew the owner who passed and ran into the son in a restaurant and gave him a large piece of her mind in front of everyone. We assume from being embarrassed he got and walked out.
I brought them home, immediately gave them a bath just to help the smell. Two days later the groomer looked them over and said I can't save these coats, both will need to be shaved down. Not what I was hoping for....BUT at least the coat will grow back nicely and they feel so much better. Two days after that, off to the vet we went to have it all done. Our rescue just spent well over $1500 for all their vetting and dentals. The only thing these boys need are monthly preventatives and a family of their own.
I'm proud to say both are extremely healthy, playful, had some extractions with their dentals, but otherwise are ready for their forever homes.
If you would like to offer one of these sweet boys a forever home please email me:
