Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mr Riley - Adult neutered Male. 8 years old, Jack Russell/Terrier mix. Up dated on all his shots, no fleas, no ticks and is on heart worm prevention. House trained, Leash and crate trained. Meet Mr Suck up. He loves to be held and is very affectionate as he loves to snuggle. Riley will come greet you multiple time during the day to say how lucky he is to be a part of your home. VERY gentle little guy.
Walks on a leash and greets everyone as a friend. Would like nothing more than to sit on your couch or chair to be petted and held like a lap dog. He will sit on your lap and insist that you provide a tummy rub with your feel hand. He is great with older kids. Riley has a high prey drive for a small dog. He hates cats and anything smaller than him and he is only 19 pounds. Plays well with my 27 lbs Westie.
Best Home: Riley would be happy in a family with any family with older kids, no small animals and a good chair to sleep on. He loves being scratched on his head and shoulders. Loves human touch and will show his pleasure on each and every touch. Perfect for a senior or a new dog owner as he is totally happy happy, with no behavior issues or fears in his world. Except those darn squirrels in the yard, they need some attention.
Riley says: “I need a human to be hold me at night as I love to snuggle. I like walks and exploring the outdoors. I promise to suck up and become your best buddy within 20 mins of arriving. I am a very good-looking want-to-be Jack/Schnauzer, even if my family tree is a little messed up. I love to play with toy bears and other stuffed toys. You need me and I need you too, so call and tell Uncle Stephen it is a match! By the way, how soft are your chairs and couch?”

More coming in all the time…
Westie Rescue Background: Each year Westie Rescue helps well over 50 abandoned or relinquished Westies find their way to new, permanent homes. It is through people like you who step up to say, “I can help a Westie in need” that makes our efforts complete. Each Westie that comes into our program is vetted and receives everything necessary to help them get ready to start a new life.
Our goal is to find just the RIGHT home for each and every Westie, so that they will know the joy of waking up each day in the warmth of someone’s arms. We hope you can help us to continue to help them.
If these little ones appear to be the Westie you have been searching for, please reach out to me ASAP so you can schedule to visit him or her.
Please contact Stephen at 703-628-9441 or WestieRescue1@gmail.com
Westie Rescue helps any Westie in need of a new home. Some come to us at a very young age while others are seniors who have lost their home and loved ones. This last group of Westies is the hardest to place and cost the most to get them ready for their new homes. They offer someone a special relationship as all they require is a warm place to sleep the days away and an open heart to love them.
Remember Westie Rescue when you write your bills this month because without your donation we cannot help these little ones……

Westie Adoption Process
Step One: Rescued Westie is off to the Vet hospital for medical health check ups, shots updated, teeth cleaning, neutering, any medical conditions identified and treatment started, and the start of normal food and daily schedule.
Step 2: Temperament review
Step 3: Review Applications on file that match Westie available. Review available Westie with applicants. Set up interviews and home visits with Westies available.
Step 4: Adoption trial stay (one week)
Step 5. Adopter donates to Westie Rescue to help offset the expenses of the next group of Westies that are coming who may need extensive medical care. (Donation range: $300-$600). Tax deductible as Westie Rescue is a non-profit humane organization.
This process allows every Westie to move from loss of home to new home in a matter of days instead of weeks. The process lowers the stress to the dog and the volunteers who make up our program. After 26 years of running this program and having over 1,100 Westies placed, I can say this process works wonderfully as we have a 98% success rate of finding the RIGHT new home for every Westie that comes in on the first try.
Each Westie receives the following health check up and treatments when they come to us:
• Wellness check up
• Blood test screen
• Shots up dated (as required)
1. Rabies
2. Distemper
3. Parvo
4. Hepatitis
5. Leptospirosis
6. Bordatella (Kennel Cough) - intranasal
• Checked for fleas, ticks, and internal parasites (hook, round, whip worms)
• Heartworm tested
• Bathed, groomed and nails trimmed (if needed)
• Neutered/Spayed (if needed)
• Any medical conditions identified and any required treatment started (continued by new owners with our assistance and oversight)
These health check points demonstrate why our program is very different from most rescue groups and why our medical costs run quite high on each and every Westie that comes into our program. Many of the Westies who come into our program have not received regular medical attention during the course of their lives and frequently have highly treatable conditions that, unfortunately, were never attended to. Other Westies, just need a few shots, a health check, and they are ready for the next chapter of their lives.
An effective and comprehensive health screening process allows each Westie to be ready to start a new life, new home to call their own, and be ready for open arms and a kind heart.
Call now and let’s start new chapter in the life of a little terrier!
Tiny Tim and The Buzz say, “thanks Westie Rescue for finding us new homes!”
