Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sadie is a 15 month old English setter mix. Please note, we have not done DNA on this dog so are guessing at her breed based on her appearance and how she behaves.
Sadie weighs about 40 pounds and is great about “loading up” to go for a ride in the car. She loves being with her people and loves men and women alike. We were told by Sadie’s previous owner that she is good with other dogs and children, also with strangers. She will go right up to a stranger to greet them with her tail wagging. She will sometimes put her front paws up on you, as if to give you a hug, not actually jumping on you.
The reason Sadie had to find a new home is because last December she had an unplanned litter of 8 puppies and the family kept 2 puppies. They felt they couldn’t afford 3 dogs so Sadie had to go. Her foster mom reports Sadie seemed quite heartbroken and confused by the sudden change in her life, but is adjusting and is a little better every day.
This is a quiet dog that doesn’t bark much. She will whine if she is anxious about something and that’s her way of letting you know. Her foster mom says she appears to be housetrained and is starting on crate training. Sadie has a good recall and comes running when you call her name. She is a moderate energy dog so a daily walk or run, or following you around while you do chores, will meet her exercise needs. She settles nicely in the house in the evening after the day is done.
She comes to us from a rural setting so we aren’t sure how she would do in the heart of a big city. If you are interested in Sadie and live in a city, we can test her in that environment for you.
Sadie will have a bath and be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped this week. We are hoping to find her a home where someone is around much of the time, either a retired person or someone that works from home. She will be a devoted companion for some lucky person.
Sadie’s adoption fee is $250 to cover her expenses while with us and will help us to rescue the next dog. If interested in possibly adopting Sadie, please complete an adoption application located here:
