My name is Atticus and I am a 5 year old purebred, neutered Newfoundland. I am house broken and up to date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative. I am in a foster home in Omaha NE.
I’ve been bounced around a bit in my life (although my foster Mom doesn’t understand why), and I am looking for my forever home.
I love to give kisses (bring it in for the real thing), belly rubs and treats, love me some treats, especially Bully Sticks. I also enjoy playing with my foster siblings, although sometimes I get a little rowdy, but will calm down when told to.
I have troubles with my back knees, we recently found out that I have arthritis and will need to be on fish oil, supplements and medication for the rest of my days, but I’m ok with that, I’m not that bothered by my knees, as long as I’m reasonable and don’t get crazy with my foster brothers roughhousing.
I pull HARD on leash, am a self-confirmed food thief and will get “mouthy” and tell you off from time to time, but that’s just my personality, I don’t mean anything personal!
I’m a big boy, although it’s hard to tell right now as I just received a “lion cut” because I had some pretty gnarly mats in my hair. I’m not a fan of getting brushed, but that could have been due to all of the mats in my fur (pic pre-haircut).
To sum it up I’m a pretty cool guy, I like everyone people and dogs included. To be candid with you, I am not a fan of cats at all and shouldn’t live in a home with one. I am also a bit of a bull in a china shop and care should be taken around small children with me as I will knock them over with my enthusiasm in meeting new people.
UPDATE
Atticus has old, unrepaired CCL injuries and it's too late to surgically repair them. We're having him treated by a holistic Vet. He had a chiropractic adjustment, cold laser therapy, and manual therapy. He will need a few more treatments in 4-week intervals. After that, he may need treatments periodically as needed. We will know more after his next few treatments. He will always walk with his rear end a little low but his mobility has already improved.
Our adoption fee is $300.00. A fenced yard with a minimum height of 4-feet is required for adoption.
If you plan on submitting an application and you are out of our region, once your application is approved we require that you come to our area to meet the dog and foster family. If that goes well you will be able to take your Newfie home with you.
