Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Charlie . . . an amazingly wonderful male Shih Tzu. Born 07/06/2013, he weighs 15 pounds and has a gorgeous black and white non-shedding coat. Laid-back, lovable, friendly, well mannered, playful, quiet, housetrained, leash trained, loves car rides . . . I could go on and on. A perfect family pet. Charlie enjoys the companionship of other small dogs and would probably be okay with cats. An active adult home or one with older children would be ideal. Charlie arrived at the Safehouse on 11/18/2018. He came to us from another animal shelter; desperately in need of urgent emergency care with severe allergies causing serious skin lesions, hair loss and escalating medical issues. While others may have seen Charlie as a lost cause, we knew that he was a perfect candidate for our intensive care program and JUST LOOK AT HIM NOW!! Our handsome little Shih Tzu is looking good, feeling great and searching for that perfect warm lap to cuddle up on. Charlie does have allergy issues; standard diagnostic tests, routine lab work and allergy testing results identified his major causative allergen as fleas, on him, near him, and in the environment. Charlie is also on a restricted veterinary diet. But don’t let that stop you from welcoming this devoted little dog into your home and heart. With proper nutrition and regular veterinary checkups, Charlie can enjoy a long and healthy life. His condition is manageable; common at-home treatments such as medicated baths and lotions; along with a year-round chewable prescription flea / tick control product, crucial environment monitoring and as needed administration of prescription Apoquel tablets or Cytopoint injections. Charlie is neutered, has a microchip, is current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and has had a complete physical and dental. His adoption fee is $300.
