Here's what the humans have to say about me:
NOTICE: Like most all rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to families who outside a 1 days drive from our location here in central Minnesota. Thank you.
THIS BROWN MALE STANDARD POODLE PUPPY and his brother came to Picket Fence Poodle Rescue as a donation from a breeder who sadly could no longer care for them. Mike and I picked the up two puppies on St Patrick’s Day so we call them “Patrick” and “O’Connor”! Patrick has been adopted and O’Connor is still available for adoption.
At his recent visit to our Vet, O’CONNOR weighed in at 28 pounds and stands at 19 inches tall. We can see that O’Connor has a smaller bone structure and smaller feet, so he will be a smaller Standard Poodle (NOT a Moyen).
All of his shots are up to date, he has been wormed, placed on a heartworm preventative, Home Again micro-chipped and registered. He had been Vet checked “healthy, strong and sturdy”.
Poodles do love water. So at our groomers, he greatly enjoyed his bath and then was a very good boy standing still while being scissored into a puppy trim and his nails clipped.
O’Connor is a soft, gentle and loving Poodle who really needs socialization while being exposed to people, places and things. I will not hide the fact that he is reserved and needs work. But this boy is a POODLE (one of the smartest dogs) and has respond to positive attention along with a loving, easy going attitude.
He can still be a little hard to catch, but wants to please, is VERY food motivated and has learned to come when called (especially when treats are involved), has learned to do steps and is in the process of being leashed trained. This big puppy boy doesn’t fit entirely into our laps, yet he so enjoys sitting mostly on a lap and our couch while we give them hugs, love and attention.
The video attached was taken 8 days after the boys arrived. They had quickly moved their play time into our living room where the big, soft dog beds (and television) are located. You can also see that O’Connor has a leash on to help him learn all about it.
Keep in mind this is a silly, fun loving, 5 month old puppy who greatly enjoys to run and play and run and play. As you can also see in the video, the little Toy Poodles do keep their distance as these are two LARGE fun loving puppy boys. So please, no small dogs.
O’Connor is now learning how to play, socialize and bond with people, instead of relying on his brother. We have also noticed how he now follows us around the house and wants to be with us instead of his brother who is gone.
House training has begun and he is doing perfectly with our “puppy routine”. O’Connor will keep his kennel clean and has been good in our home.
PLEASE NOTE:
*A FENCED YARD WILL BE REQUIRED as this boy loves to run!
*O’Connor is just perfect and enjoys being with other quiet, easy going and older dogs. He will be also a great “only” dog for a family to spoil.
*PLEASE: NO cats, NO little dogs, NO aggressive or assertive dogs and NO young children.
*Preference will be given to active families with past Standard Poodle experience who can train and work with this smart puppy boy.
Yes. This is a very rare opportunity for the right family as we all know Standard Poodle puppies are hard to find. With the introduction of “Doodles”, sadly the Standard Poodle breed is slowly being eliminated and becoming extinct. Why Doodle when you can Poodle?
This puppy is AKC registered and we do have those papers, but they will not be given to you unless you have a acceptable reason for their possession. We are not familiar with their pedigree. Both parents had their hips x-rayed and approved.
O’Connor’s adoption fee is $800.00 (including our $55.00 Minnesota state sales tax). This includes his puppy wellness Vet check, shots, worming, microchip and neuter.
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO BRING O’CONNOR TO OUR VET WHEN HE IS AROUND 7 TO 8 MONTHS OF AGE FOR OUR VET TO NEUTER HIM. OR you can have him neutered at your Vet and we will offer a $100.00 rebate for you to keep or donate to Picket Fence Poodle Rescue.
Also included is a new leash, collar, a large bag of quality puppy food, treats, toys, one month supply of NuVet Plus Canine vitamins, a new blanket, a big, soft doggie bed, a book “Puppies for Dummies” along with lots of good information to help your adoption move forward on the right paw!
