Dante is a 2 year old Black Lab mix, weighing around 55lbs, who ended up in a local shelter as a stray.
Dante is house-trained, crate-trained and does well with other dogs. He's currently fostered with another male Lab mix and they thoroughly enjoy zooming around the yard together and playing tug of war & fetch. As you can see in the photos, he loves to be near you and will curl up next you for a nap.
He has a good amount of energy, so we'd love to see him go to an active family with another playful dog or two.
His foster is working with him on his obedience and manners, but we'd like to see him go through a round of training classes with his adopters to maximize his potential and strengthen the bond. He already knows "sit" and "shake" and has made great progress on loose-leash walking.
Dante's only "catch" is that he was born with a deformity in his front leg. He is NOT handicapped whatsoever. We had xrays done and he was fitted for a custom orthotic brace by Pawsitive Steps in Rochester Hills. He wears it a few hours per day to prevent future issues. He still has two prepaid visits that we will include in his adoption. Annual expenses associated with the brace include a once a year check up and brace maintenance estimated at $150/year.
