My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dec 18, 2014

Lolita, fondly called Loaf by her foster mom, is a very special kitty. Despite being deaf and vision impaired, Loaf is incredibly confident and has no trouble getting around. Once she maps out her surroundings she walks around like she owns the place. She finds all the important spots with ease - food, water, litterbox, and a warm lap.

Loaf is rather specific in her likes and dislikes – for instance, she likes cuddles and pets but not below the waist. She is affectionate but not needy, demanding but not aggressive; it does not take long for her to teach you what her various meows mean. She also has some food allergies, so her diet is restricted to hypoallergenic food and treats.

Loaf is a super cute, low-energy, loving cat. It’s definitely easy to fall for her BUT (and isn’t there always a ‘but’?) potential adopters have to make sure they can accommodate her needs. Loaf is a night owl, a definite nocturnal floof. She most active at night - exploring, snacking, and sometimes meowing for loves from the resident human. This means if you are a light sleeper or want a kitty to cuddle like a teddy bear, Loaf is not your girl. She is a long haired Himalayan cat - so she needs daily grooming (which she does not always like) and has chronic eye goops that need to be cleaned. She likes people, tolerates respectful dogs who know who's boss, and capital-h Hates other cats.

Early in 2019 Lolita had surgery for mammary cancer. The veterinarian was confident that they were able to remove all the cancer, but this type of cancer often comes back. Loaf is healthy and happy now, but whoever decides to adopt this special girl will have to be ready for the fact that the median life expectancy for cats with this type of cancer is only a few years. That said, she might live a long healthy life! It’s impossible to predict.

Loaf has her fair share of quirks (but don’t we all?) that make her quite unique, and for the right person, Loaf will be a loving, silly, wonderful companion.

Thank you for welcoming a cat with special needs into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175.
