Here's what the humans have to say about me:
BONNIE is a 2-year-old spayed female chocolate lab. Bonnie weighs 43 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
DESCRIPTION Bonnie is better than an ice cream sandwich! She's a perfect blend of milk chocolate and vanilla and she brings joy to everyone she meets. But the best thing about Bonnie is that when you can't get enough of this sweet treat, you can keep coming back for more. Her golden-brown eyes will warm your heart and her happy tail will tickle your soul. Bonnie is done being lonely and ready to be loved! She is good with dogs.
Update: Bonnie is settling in just fine! She has gotten used to being in a home and is figuring out new things each day! She is now playing with resident dog Nala! She's getting used to having a canine companion and is learning how to share nicely. She is very puppy -like and can be extremely excited and is working on learning good manners when greeting new people, and during the day when she wants to play. She has a very wiggly butt too when she is excited! It's super cute! She is slowly getting to know her name and we are working on sit, down, and come. She is a really sweet girl and would be the perfect dog for someone willing to have patience and will work with her on training!
Update: Bonnie is a lovely little girl with lots of energy! She made herself right at home and enjoys playing with (or de-stuffing!) her stuffies and chewing on bones. She does really well in the crate and will go in during the day to take some naps. Bonnie will need some ongoing training. She does have some puppy in her and can be a curious pup. She is working on learning her manners, as she tends to jump and be mouthy when greeting people. She knows "come" and her name, does well on a leash and is house-trained. She loves to jump up on your lap so she can snuggle and give kisses. She prefers time to warm up to other dogs in her space, and then she does well. She loves greeting people with a wiggly butt and a happy tail!
Update: Bonnie is doing very well! She does well on walks, but still doesn’t fully understand what a walk is. She walks behind us and tends to sit or lie down during the walk - she would rather just sniff around and enjoy the smells of the neighborhood while relaxing in the grass! She does perk up when she sees people or children on walks and when she hears other dogs, but does not tend to pull in that direction. She does not seem too interested in small animals and cars do not bother her. She is a sweetie with people and we have seen an improvement in her jumping on people when she greets them. She has learned "off" and "sit" and does well with those commands. She can be a little hesitant towards sitting right away but is getting better the more we practice it. She does very well with people and is always happy to see them. A single family home would be the ideal option for her as she does enjoy running all around the house and does seem to get wound up with lots of outside activity. She tends to bark when she sees people outside and when other dogs bark. Bonnie is a typical young lab and will test the waters with what she can sneak into her mouth, so it is necessary to crate her when you leave the house and be aware of what she is doing when you are home. She crates at night and sleeps all night. She really enjoys her crate and will go inside on her own for a nap during the day. Bonnie does resource guard her food and toys from other dogs. It is manageable, and we are working on improving her behavior. Slow introductions to new dogs are needed until she realizes they are okay. She has come a long way and is learning how to live in a loving home! Bonnie enjoys her time with her fosters and will cuddle up on the couch for some quick pets and kisses:)
