Here's what the humans have to say about me:
N/M, 1.5 years, Border collie/newfoundland mix, 50 lbs
Hi! I am an outgoing, 1.5-year-old Border collie/Newfoundland mix. As
you can tell from my photo I am Border collie in size. I was found
chained up and abandoned in a dark, empty house when it was being
checked out before being sold. Fortunately a couple of kind people
brought me to MaxFund to look for a forever home.
I am very friendly and I like women and teenage girls very much. Men
are OK as casual acquaintances and I have made several friends among
the male volunteers here. However, I would probably live most happily
in a household that is all-women most of the time. I have little
experience with young kids but I tend to want to herd them (it’s my
Border collie heritage!) and so older kids or teenagers would be
better as permanent members of my family. Generally, I am OK with
other dogs as long as they give me my space but I don’t appreciate it
when they want to be too familiar. I have no experience with cats.
I love going for walks and enjoy all types of playtime. Toys are fun,
especially soft ones. I think car rides are OK now and I am sure I
will get to like them – looking out and seeing new things is really
interesting. My family will have to be patient with me as I get used
to new situations. For example, dark places and water spray (like from
water bottles) are scary. However, I am proud to report that once I
get introduced to new experiences I am a real trooper. I was a
male-dog model at the recent “Unleashed Fashion Show” and I was told I
did very well and looked very smart in my chic shirt and tie. I
exhibited great patience as I was primped, brushed, and outfits were
taken on and off. However, please don’t think that means that I have
any intention of following a modeling career – I am a dog-of-action
Border Collie!
I love meeting people so please stop by the shelter to say “hello” and
take me for a walk. Remember to ask for Mandella!
