Arrival Story: This sweetie was pulled from the Macomb County shelter.
Approximate Age/Weight: 1.5 years old / 15 lbs.
Personality: What kind of dog is this scruffy little fella? It's anybody's guess (and we sure have fun guessing!) what breed he is, but we can tell you that Duffy's got a Seussical look, a springy step, and his favorite thing is snuggling in a lap. Or maybe it's when his humans arrive home, because man-oh-man he is so excited to see them and ask all about their day and then catch up on all the pets he's been missing! When he's not getting his cuddle on or reminding his favorite person that he's their number one fan, Duffy enjoys getting lots of sniffs in, food puzzles and chew toys, or running around the yard with his pupper pals. Unless he's announcing Stranger Danger, Duff doesn't bark much, but he's does talk in (adorable) whines, cries, and growls when he's excited or playing.
Little Duff may sound fierce when he sees the mail carrier, he's actually quite the scaredy-pup. A mixture of patience and lots of yummy snacks will go a long way in helping him get comfortable with new people, places, noises and the like. Since he's not 100% house-trained yet, Duffy stays in a crate whenever someone isn't able to keep an eye on him. Fortunately, he doesn't mind much - he's quiet and actually enjoys having his own cozy little space to retreat to from time to time during the day.
Forever home: This cuddle-bug is looking for a human BFF or family who will have his back as he continues to gain confidence. He'd love to share his home with a canine sibling or have doggy friends he could visit with. Duffy would prefer a home with children old enough to respect his boundaries, especially in the beginning. If Duffy's forever family includes cats, his humans should supervise their interactions to make sure Duffy minds his manners with the kitties (he's still figuring this whole "cat" thing out).
