Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Goofy is a very sweet boy who loves people of all ages. He is learning how to behave in a home environment and is loving the interactions with his foster family. He is great with people of all ages and enjoys the company of other friendly dogs who would enjoy playing. Goofy is approximately 5 - 6 years old and currently weighs 51 lbs. He is very healthy and up to date on his vetting including being neutered.
Here is what Goofy's foster family had to say about him:
Goofy is a very lovable, fun-loving, cuddly boy. He loves people of all ages and enjoys being a part of the family activities. Goofy has a lovely coat that doesn't shed much. He has a moderate to high energy level when outdoors and loves a good run. He would make an excellent running or hiking companion. An active family who would include him in outdoor activities would be great. In the home he is basically a couch potato and enjoys snuggling up on the couch and napping while the family watches a movie. He appears to be in great health, has a hearty appetite and wishes he was a lap dog.
Goofy is not shy at all and enjoys the company of people of all ages. He is very good with children and on walks he has met with children appropriately and enjoyed their pets and attention. He would probably do best with older children that would be able to include him in their outdoor activities. He gets along okay with the other dog in the home however he can sometimes tend to be bossy around food and toys and needs to learn to share better. Overall he would do best with someone who has previous dog experience and who can be a confident leader. He would do great in a family who would include him in their day to day lives. He not been exposed to cats while in our care however I am sure he would want to chase them.
Goofy enjoys playing in the backyard but can sometimes be a little too rough with the kids when he gets carried away. His favourite things to do are to chew on a good bone, go for car rides or snuggling with his foster dad. Goofy will need some additional training as we are thinking this may be the first time he was actually living in a home environment. He will definitely counter surf and steal food if given the chance. He will also pick up things he shouldn't however he does respond well when redirected. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night as well as going in on his own for a nap throughout the day. We have been using a gentle leader for walking and with that he walks great on leash. He doesn't try to escape the backyard but if a gate were left open I think he would definitely go exploring. He loves going for car rides but needs to be restrained/tied in the back otherwise he wants to sit in your lap.
Overall Goofy is what you would expect in an affectionate and fun-loving hound. He can be thick as a brick at times but just oh so loving...it melts your heart. He is going to need a family that will love him and be patient while he learns the house rules and gets to know his boundaries. Keeping training lessons fun and entertaining, with loads of praise for good behaviours, using lots of treats and positive reinforcement, Goofy will be a hound that is a joy to live with. He needs some confidence boosting so he can be left on his own without stressing and a good routine with consistency, so he knows what to expect. Like most hounds, he is quiet and relaxed in the home as long as he gets exercised enough.
Goofy just loves everyone and greets all people with a smile and a wagging tail. He is looking for a family that will love him just as much. A family that will help him gain the skills he needs to be a confident and capable family companion. With patience and consistency, Goofy will make a wonderful family companion.
