Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Affectionately known as "Clovie", Clover is a young at heart, approximately 3 year old, energetic, active, beautiful black & tan small tweenie dachshund who was very lucky when Hearts4Doxies Rescue took him in after he found himself as a stray in a shelter. He is very smart, eager to please, continues to learn & work on his social graces, "happily" meets his humans with jumps and kisses, and like most dachshunds, will find any morsel of food left out. He is 16 lbs. of muscle and love, well-behaved, extremely social and interacts well with all dogs. He plays with all heart and thoroughly enjoys the interactions with small, medium and large dogs.
Clover's favorite things include: playing "chase", "fetch", long adventurous walks (beach, trails, park), snuggles and sleeping in the big bed. He has an abundance of love waiting to give freely. Clover has not been around cats and does not appear to have a prey drive when outside watching the squirrels & birds. He listens very well, is extremely treat motivated and is not a constant barker (when presented with more vocal dogs, he barks right along).
Clover's best matched forever home:
- A secure and fenced yard (no exceptions)
- Very active, outgoing, fun, playful family
- Loving, gentle, tender
- Dog companionship of similar age/activity/energy
- Dachshund savvy & knowledge of the breed
- Older children (12+) who have been raised with dogs, are gentle
- Works from home, part-time, flexible hours/days, full time work schedule must have a dog walker or day care plan in place (no exceptions)
Clover's training is a work in progress due to his past life where he was a stray and brought to a shelter - unfortunately, we do not know his past history. Not ever having the guidance, support and force free training principles, gentle leadership and a stable environment continues to give Clover positive strides towards being successful. He is learning how to tell you that he needs to go potty and will have accidents if not monitored and kept on a schedule, crate trained, and on leash, has the tendency to pull (especially in his excitement of seeing children and dogs playing).
Clover is a super affectionate guy that loves exploring and being included with his family. If away from the home longer than 4 hrs., a dog walker or day care plan must be in place as well as an established vet. A basic obedience class to master leash walking, learn basic commands and establish bonding with his new family is required. He is a good listener, very smart, has a clean bill of health, eats a grain free, high quality kibble, is not too small and not to big. Clover is the PERFECT family dog just waiting to make forever memories with you!
