Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jazz is available for adoption though First Responders Animal ResQ.
Jazz is a beautiful pure bred 2 year old female German Shepherd who was originally purchased from Kreative Kennels. She is a petite dog who weighs about 50 pounds. She spent the first year of her life living at the breeding kennel and was sold late last year along with another female. That pairing did not work out and the owner asked us to find her a new home.
In her foster home Jazz is living with 2 male German Shepherds. She is submissive and easily gets along with both dogs. Jazz would be happy to live with a dog friend. Jazz was tested with a cat and she showed no interest, and we believe she is cat workable.
Jazz rides well in a vehicle and does not get sick when traveling over mountain roads. She is house trained and uses a dog door. She is easy to walk on leash. Due to her upbringing she is used to staying in a crate or kennel. At night she chooses to sleep in her crate even though she is free to sleep elsewhere. She is a relatively quiet dog, but will alarm bark.
Jazz is an athletic and energetic young dog and in spite of her small size she easily jumps into the back of a pickup truck. She runs fast, zooming around the yard with her older foster siblings, easily leaving them in the dust. Jazz does not know many commands, but will sit when asked. We are working on some basic obedience and impulse control, as when she is excited she will jump on people and can be mouthy too.
Jazz is timid when she is in new surroundings or when she faces an unknown obstacle. Due to the lack of socialization during her early years she is fearful when meeting strangers and will bark at people. Jazz needs a home with an experienced person or family who will make the time to get her out in the world. We have started to introduce her to new people and new situations but it will be important for this exposure to continue so she can gain confidence. We recommend she attend training to help her build confidence. Due to jumping and mouthing a home she should not go to a home with small children.
