My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This older handsome gentleman was granted a second chance when the shelter to which he was surrendered for euthanasia contacted HBSR - He had WAY too much love still to give!! Zeus loves to be with people of all ages and also enjoys being around other dogs. He loves having his ears scratched and to cuddle in his foster mom’s lap. He is very well-mannered and knows all the basic commands (sit, stay, heel, wait for food, etc). He is a perfect gentleman who enjoys leashed walks. He also rides well in the car. Zeus is 13 and does have some sight and hearing limitations, so he needs a helping hand sometimes to guide him, especially in darkness. He is on Cosequin for some arthritis and will see the vet next week to discuss a likely dental. He has two small lumps that appear typical older schnauzer bumps (lipomas). Zeus does not like to be crated - He will go in and stay, but he does bark to tell his foster mom that he’d really prefer to be back on the couch. Zeus would do best with an adopter/family that works from home and that would enjoy taking his lovely boy on casual walks.

Dogs will only be adopted to residents of the following: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and DC.

Adopters must agree to take the dog through obedience training within 3 months of adoption (unless the dog is over age 10).

Adopters must agree to keep the dog current on vaccinations and heart worm, flea, tick prevention on a year round basis.
