My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GARTH is a 6-year-old neutered male yellow lab. Garth weighs 57 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 8 and up.

DESCRIPTION Garth is a nice boy who is keeping his run clean at the vet. He is pretty good on leash, will pull a little at times. Garth is little wary of new things but figures them out quickly. He is a good rider and is affectionate. He is good with other dogs. Wayne and Garth were found in a rural area running together. Their finder took them to the shelter when he would find an owner. Wayne and Garth may be brothers but are not bonded and will be adopted separately.

Update: Garth is a very gentle and shy guy. He is discovering each day that it is OK to be an indoor dog and to be with humans. He enjoys the safety of his kennel. He needs a home with another confident dog to show him the ropes. Garth needs a patient, loving and understanding family but the accomplishments, like conquering stairs or coming in and out on his own are their own reward.

Update: Garth is starting to come around more and more. He is still very leery of stairs but is doing better about coming into the living room with the family instead of hanging back. He has great manners and is good with the foster's son. He likes moseying around the yard and basking in the sun. Garth would probably prefer a quieter home and will need a patient person to help him face the scary world that he is not used to being a "country boy". He will need to have his heartworm treatment soon but should be an easy recovery since he is so calm and gentle. Can you help give Garth the stability and confidence he needs?

Update: Garth is wondering why no one is coming to see him?? He is all done with his heartworm treatment and ready for a family to call his own. Garth has really blossomed and while the laundry room is still his "safe space" he now likes to hang out in the living room with everyone else. His favorite time of day is sitting by the pool in the morning while FM has her coffee before everyone else is awake. Garth is a calm, gentle soul that would love an easy going, calm household with a doggie friend to help him continue to build his confidence. Garth is great in his crate, house trained and has wonderful manners. He is good on leash. Good with dogs, unknown with cats and approved for kids 8 and up.
