My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you loved and lost? I have. I had an owner for many years, but then they passed away. I was soon "rescued" by DLRR and have been with my foster family for over a month. Now I love them all very much, so I know I could love again. It isn't polite to ask a lady her age, but in my case, it is downright confusing! I have been told I am 7 - 10 years old and then 10-13 years old. All I know is my age doesn't seem to get me down at all. I go for 1.5 mile walks every single day with my foster brother and sister (both Labs, one who is an "older lady" like I am, and Kirby, who is 3 years old and likes to suck on my ears---don't ask me---I don't understand it, either---he's a weirdo) and I keep up the whole way. After that, though, I really just love to hang out outside in the sun (there is a pool here but I haven't been in it) or on the ottoman or in between my foster parents when they watch TV.
I have a couple of fatty deposits on my side, but who doesn't at my age? The vet says they are harmless.
I also have a bit of a dry cough (no Valley Fever, no cancer in my lungs, they aren't really sure what is causing it) that also makes my bark sound like it is not very intimidating (my foster parents like that part, but I don't bark much anyway). Finally, I don't hear as well as I used to, so responding to "Come" is pretty tough for me. I sit on command with sign language, though, and that makes my foster parents happy.
What else do I love?
*treats
*playing with a ball for about 5 - 10 minutes a day, in which I fetch the ball or Kong and bring it back to repeat the process about 10 times (then I am wiped out).
*having my ears rubbed
I'm totally potty trained and go in the rocks or on grass, whatever you have. But I am a lady, and I wouldn't dream of
going to the bathroom inside the house.
I am learning pretty quickly how to walk on a leash. I wasn't so sure about it to begin with, so I may not have done it a lot
in my past life, but I don't tug much anymore. I sure do love to sniff everything, wherever we go.
My foster parents say "Honey" is a perfect name for me because I am super sweet and my coat is the color of Honey.
If you are looking for a super-active young pup, I'm likely not your "pick of the litter". But if you want a Snuggle Bunny to be your companion for my senior years (and maybe yours, too), I am the best girl in the world!
