My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🔻
Our beloved Joe is in need of a new home. We're not upset or angry about this. Sometimes it just happens.

Some of you remember Joe.
He came to us from a hoarding situation in Kansas along with his sister and brother, Millie and Douglas.
For one year before they came to us, they had to scavenge for everything they had. Left to their own devices with no structure or boundaries. They were semi-feral, they had had some human contact.
Once we got them here, they all thrived with their foster families. They loved and warmed up to their people quickly. Still a bit skittish in all new situations. We couldn't find a foster for Joe, so he spent time with Misty Klug at Muddy Paws Dog Training. He learned some basic obedience as well as some social skills. Misty was Joe's person.
We found a home for Joe and he's been in that home for about 3 months. He has a dog sister that is a free roamer, with no issues, with a doggie door.
Joe is not a free roam dog when left alone. Everything is a treasure to him and he must have it. Unfortunately they are not all good treasures, like shoes for instance. 🙃
People who have never crated a dog before have a hard time with it, because it's too sad for them. We talked about this and they were willing to try but at the end of the day, it just wasn't fair to Joe being in a crate for 8 hours a day while family works and watching his sister out and about. Nor would it be fair to her to have her friend crated.

I'll tell you about the homes that Millie and Douglas are living in, and those are the exact homes I'm looking for for Joe.
👍 Douglas lives on a ranch. He's with his people at all times or down the road hanging out with his Gramma and Grandpa. He's supervised at all times. He too loves his treasures like cow bones and cow pies 😂. He's a cherished member of the family and is thriving.
👍 Millie also has a country home. She to has a Mom who works from home so she can be supervised. When they are left alone, her and her dog brother have a safe place so Millie isn't scavenging in the home for treasures. She also has a love for shoes. Lol.
Douglas and Millie have changed the lives of their new families. They are dearly loved, quirks and all. These three are young Lab mixes - What do Labs do when they are young? They find stuff to get into. Some of it is just that, but some of it is how they lived the first year of their lives.

So, what I am looking for in a new home for Joe?
🔹An active home where he gets lots of attention. Lots of adventures, and fun. 🔹Someone who can continue to teach him right from wrong in a positive way. He needs to learn boundaries.
🔹He is the sweetest dog but will always be a bit skittish in new situations.
🔹A home where owners are home most of the time would be great or a home where Joe can be on the same schedule as the other dogs in the home.
🔹Joe loves dogs. At least one big dog in his new family is required.
🔹We are open to GOOD country homes without fences as long as he's always supervised outside and always inside with his family.
🔹If you live inside a town, a fenced yard is 100% required!
🔹Joe loves to play with other dogs and will need an active home with lots of activity and exercise. He loves car rides.
