My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Why is this SUPER SWEET boy still waiting for his forever home, you ask? Well, we haven't been able to figure it out either! We suspect it's because he needs to be an only pet, but oh, what a wonderful pet he will be!!!

As you can see, Benji is a gentle, happy, lovable clown! Not to mention handsome and intelligent as well! If you are interested in increasing the joy in your life by 100%, we suggest that you make a bee-line for Hearts and Tails shelter in Weare, NH to meet this delightful boy!

Here's his story:
My name is Benji! I'm around 3-years-old and weigh 48 pounds, and I am available for adoption in New Hampshire. I was spotted for the first time 2 months ago in the "Los Tubos Beach" in the town of Manatí, Puerto Rico. I was with my two puppies. People used to walk by and see me playing placidly with them. I dedicated my entire day to them. Everyone was impressed with my parenting skills. I was always friendly with people who came to pet us. Luckily, on February 9, my pups were rescued. I was sad, but as a caring father, I understood that they were headed to a better life. They have since taken their freedom flight. I was both father and mother to them. After they left, I felt lonely, as if I had lost something very meaningful in my life. I guess my rescuer understood my feelings. Every time she came to feed me she remarked how sad I looked. There are so many abandoned dogs -including puppies- at the beach site, I was a bit pessimistic about my prospects. To my surprise, within a week, a lady -Teresa- rescued me! I was so excited when she opened the car door that I immediately jumped in. I was like, "Let's get out of here!" And I never looked back. A foster home took me in, and they have taught me a lot. I was taken to a vet clinic to get checked and neutered. Overall, my results were good. Given the type of parasite I had, the vet thinks I was farm-raised and that I was later abandoned at the beach site. My puppies also had the same parasites. We were all cured and are now fine! I'm a very loving dog and I'm very peaceful. People say I give off a very positive, happy vibe. I'm not prone to barking; only occasionally and for specific reasons, like seeing a cat. Now that I know what it is to be loved, I have a new purpose in life: I want to give back all the gratitude I feel inside. Life can be great, I've seen. More than anything, I want to belong to a family who will love me! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Benji
