Maia turned 1 on 2/28. I adopted her from an animal rescue where she grew up around animals 24/7. She is a wonderful dog, but needs a home where she has the companionship of another dog. When left alone, she is in distress for the entire day. However, when left with another dog, she is calm and relaxed within minutes and stays that way. When a solution is this clear, I cannot let her continue to suffer in the hopes that she'll adjust.

Maia gets along beautifully with any dog she meets! She's not territorial about toys or resources and has deferred to the more dominant dogs she's played with. She is very smart and treat-motivated. She can be shy around new people at first, but warms up quickly especially if they offer her treats :) If you're looking for a snuggle bug, Maia is your girl. She is house trained, well-behaved, and generally a pretty quiet dog. Even during her states of high anxiety when left alone without another dog, she has never shown any destructive tendencies.
