Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dear potential adopter,
My name is Peaches. I am 9 years old and 11 pounds. I am being rehomed by no fault of my own, but because my mom went to heaven. She thought I was so special, and I am looking for another person that thinks that much of me again. I am petite, affectionate ADULT (don’t call me a senior just yet! Jeez! Poodles live to be TWICE my age!) and potty trained. I will potty outside in the grass, your fake grass, or if not given the option when nature calls, a potty pad.
I am independent, meaning I am not super needy, but I do love my people, and will follow them around. I am mellow, I don’t bark often, in fact the biggest excitement for me is treats and dinner! I dance for snacks! (see, old ladies can’t dance on two legs, so there ya go)
I have been to meet two potential adopters. Both were really perfect for me, but one thought I was too old (you had to be there but that’s funny) in general, and the other’s family talked her out of adopting me because again, they think I am too old. Again, humorous… but I wanted to mention both of these instances, so, YOU as the potential adopter can make a choice before my rescue humans take time off or work or rescue to take me to meet you. I am 9, and 9 isn’t old. But if you think 9 may be too old, please arrange to meet me at an event that is already planned for the public. Most of our events are at Brea Petsmart, please inquire.
I am vetted and I have REGULAR age related sight changes. You will not notice them until night time in dim light, but my rescue humans want you to know this going in. Also I was in a home with many dogs, some barky, which may have contributed to my hearing loss. I do hear louder noises, snaps and claps, and perhaps some of my hearing loss is simply me choosing to ignore you because maybe you should have a snack in your hand… Because I have a little hearing loss, I am a deep sleeper and the only time you may see me crabby is if you startle me into waking up. I feel like you wouldn’t be happy with that either, so not a big deal, right?
I sleep on a dog bed on the floor but I wouldn’t mind sleeping in the big people’s bed. I am flexible.
Again, I am not ready to be called a senior. I don’t use a walker, my treat dance routine shows I am just a level 3 adult and have plenty of spunk left.
I do not require another dog in the home, but I do get along with other dogs. I am not likely to play with other dogs, however. I have never met a cat, but I am not a chaser… I don’t really have an opinion on cats yet. I am presently in a home with older children and I like them.
Lastly, I have some mild allergies I am working thru. Presently I am on allergy pills but my rescue people have changed my food and have been trying different things so that I can try to stop the allergy pills. I have transitioned to Fromm’s brand food and I am doing so much better.
If these things are Ok with you, please apply to adopt me or contact my people to meet me. I am currently fostered in Huntington Beach.
