Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Wrigley is a 5 year old Yorkie mix'ish and weighs 9.11 pounds. He has some special needs. Wrigley is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.
UPDATED BIO 03/07/2019: Wrigley is the sweetest, nicest and most well-behaved little boy. He hardly ever barks, he gets along with everyone, he seems to like all people, all dogs, and we think even cats. He rides great in the car and walks nicely on the leash, though he much prefers the fenced backyard. His foster parents think he is even house-trained. It seems he does all his business outside, and although they are not sure he is 100 percent house-trained, they have never yet seen him have an accident inside the house,
There is absolutely nothing negative to say about sweet Wrigley and his delightful personality. But -- on Wrigley's initial exam, a heart murmur Grade 4 out of 6 was detected. UYR has scheduled an echocardiogram on March 18th. This will give us more information and confirm if the heart murmur is due to his Mitral Valve possibly not working like it's supposed to. At this time the vet said that he is showing little to no symptoms of a mitral valve issue except a very slight enlargement of his heart. He currently doesn't need any treatment besides 1/4 of a pill twice a day to help prevent and slow down any worsening of his heart or other symptoms from presenting themselves. The echocardiogram will tell us a lot more about the murmur and how we should proceed with further medications and treatments. He is on a low-sodium dog food and takes an Omega-3 supplement. All this will benefit his heart health.
Wrigley may develop more heart problems in the future, but for now he is active and looking for love. If you are interested in Wrigley (and how could you not be?) and understand his special needs, please submit an adoption application. You will find that application on our website at www.UYR.us. Wrigley loves people and a home where someone is home most of the time would be his perfect home. His foster mom is not sure how he would be with children since he has not been around them since coming to his foster home. But he is so well-behaved, he may be okay with well-behaved children over the age of 10.
Wrigley's echocardiogram and consultation will be expensive. Please think of this sweet boy and make a donation towards his medical care. Every penny, every dime, and every dollar adds up. Thank you so much for thinking of Wrigley.
