Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Cooper! This soft gorgeous 4 and 1/2 to 5 month old puppy arrived on March 2nd weighing in at 34 pounds. He is a sturdy puppy with an outgoing, playful and sweet personality.
Cooper did great on the car ride to his fosters’ home. He was content to lay down on a blanket in the backseat, chewing his rope toy, giving kisses and occasionally glancing out the window. Upon arriving at his fosters’ home, he sniffed around on the grass and then relieved his bladder after a very long travel day. He entered his foster home without hesitation and was excited to meet our dog. Cooper was not shy at all. They all soon became buddies.
UPDATE: This boy LOVES toys! He quickly discovered the toy basket and was excited to check them all out in puppy fashion. He was squeaking, tossing and flinging toys as if he discovered a treasure chest. He was content to play with them on his own, yet willing to share them with our dog. What a HAPPY boy! As much puppy energy as he has, he goes into his crate without any fuss.
UPDATE: He slept through the night and did not make a peep until I let him outside in the morning. So far, he has not had any accidents in the house and goes potty as soon as he’s let outside. He seems to know and can hold it and has been doing well on a good schedule. He also seems like a quick learner who is food motivated. He is already sitting on command before I give him a treat.
We will continue our updates as we get to know him better. If you’re looking for a happy, fun, energetic and sweet pup, this is the guy for you. We haven’t gone for a walk yet, but I suspect Cooper will love walks and hikes.
UPDATE: Cooper continues to settle into a nice routine at his fosters’ home. Still no in-house accidents and he goes potty pretty quickly when he goes outside on a good schedule. Cooper is a happy boy and loves the snow. He actually likes “rolling” in it. He also loves “diving” in it head first while pushing the snow with his nose...very cute.
Cooper had his first bath today. He loved being lathered and scrubbed, but wasn’t a fan of the water or dryer. He will gradually get used to it as baths are needed.
Cooper continues to love his toys, bones and balls and will return the ball to be thrown again. We are still working on differentiating between what things are toys vs other items he may find that seem like toys. Cooper responds well to corrections, but with any new curious puppy, must be watched at all times. His foster gates him in the room she’s in for this purpose and when she’s not able to watch him closely, will put him in his puppy playpen where he is very content and doesn’t complain. He’s learning.
Cooper and the two dogs he is being fostered with are getting along fine. The older dogs are actually correcting him when sharp baby teeth nip too hard. Cooper will immediately turn over on his back as if saying I’m sorry. Cooper will also give them kisses if he is corrected by them.
Cooper has really only been in his crate at night and goes in without complaint and is quiet until he sees his foster in the morning.
He has not been on the furniture, continues to sit for treats and meals and walks well on the leash. Because he is very food motivated and smart, Cooper will be easy to train with consistent instruction.
