Aya is an, active and loving 2-year old red Shiba who was surrendered to a shelter, whose staff made sure she got to DC SIR. Before the shelter, she had been living in a crate in a garage. She is loving indoor life, and has been enjoying sleeping in her human foster brother’s bed. After her fist day in rescue, she has not had any potty accidents indoors thanks to her fosters work on a potty break routine. She has shown off her agility with some counter surfing.
Aya has no issues with body handling. Her fosters can touch her paws and mouth, and can get harness on without protest. She’s also a good girl who doesn’t mind when people touch her toys, even her squeaky plush toys she loves.
Aya barks with happiness when she sees her foster family. She has a lot of energy and enjoys long walks on nearby trails with no signs of slowing down even after 3 miles. Her foster family has been teaching her to walk on a leash, and noted she does tend to stare at other dogs and animals when she is on walks.
Aya would do best in a home with an active family where she can be the only dog. Think she’s the right match for you?
