My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hunter is a handsome little boy 2 year old boy who is a tiny 8 pounds of love.

Hunter is learning about the great outdoors at his foster home in Mississippi. Hunter came from a puppy mill situation where he had never experienced grass or toys. He is learning to love being outside and would love a home with a fenced yard where he can be safe and secure. Hunter has never experienced toys and needs a home that will be patient with him and teach him the joy of love and attention.

Hunter loves attention and quickly bonds with someone who shows him love. He follows his foster mom through the house and doesn’t like to let her out of his site. Hunter loves to sleep in the big bed and would like a home that will let him continue to have big bed privileges. He gets along well with other dogs but he has not been tested with cats. He would be fine in a home with older, respectful children over the age of 13.

Hunter is working on his house training. Hunter is basically a puppy when it comes to house training and needs his new home to be patient with him. Like all dachshunds he will need to be confident in their environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Hunter is very afraid of a crate, as we think that is likely where he lived his life prior to being rescued.
