My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wendy and Rusty came to us from a rural county shelter after their owner landed in dire straits. Wendy, 8, has clearly whelped several litters in her previous life. She underwent entropion surgery along with her spay soon after entering our program. Entropion is a painful condition where the eyelids roll inward. Luckily, she came through surgery like a champ and has not suffered any long term effects. She is as good as new....without the scratchy feeling of reverse eyelids! Wendy is a typical mature Queen Bee. She has a voice and likes to use it to let her humans know exactly what she wants which is usually companionship and attention but may also include a demand to be let out, fed or watered. She stays close to her peeps, is a very good houseguest, and has a heck of a prey drive. No kitties for this girl! She has a solid vocabulary, but tends to play the age card in the form of selective hearing if you request something she isn't fond of doing. She does require firm boundaries and mutual respect from the humans in the house. She's a big girl at just over 90lbs, Large and in Charge! She is reactive with other dogs and although she walks well on a leash with her Gentle Leader and is getting accustomed to seeing other dogs and maintaining her composure, her reactivity may always be an issue. Wendy is learning what toys are and although a bit hesitant, is starting to play with them more and more. Wendy will do best as the only dog or with a very submissive male dog.
