Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gunther was reluctantly surrendered to our program for financial reasons. This well adjusted happy-go-lucky 14 month old boy has known nothing but love since puppyhood. Gunther was raised with small children and adores them. He brings a new level to being a Velcro Doberman: while his foster mom runs on her treadmill, he stands dutifully nearby, doing a nose-poke on her leg every couple minutes to remind her of his loyalty. Typical of his age and breed, he is VERY high energy. He currently gets a 1 mile walk in the morning, a 2 mile trail walk in the evening, romps and plays in the backyard with his foster sibling, plays non-stop in the house with toys and is still FULL of energy. He has not exhibited any destructive tendencies but without adequate exercise, we are sure he would channel his energy toward naughtiness instead of good. A must for Gunther, other than an owner who understands the energy level of an adolescent male Doberman, is a rewards based obedience class ASAP! Gunther loves other dogs but gets overly excited when he sees them on a leash with lots of jumping, whining and barking involved. He is NOT aggressive, simply ecstatic at the possibility of making new friends. Musts for Gunther: fenced yard, crating while unattended (he's just a baby dog!), and a reputable dog daycare would be a definite plus. He needs to learn some more vocabulary and establish a solid obedience foundation to help him learn the expectations of a mature and distinguished Dober Gent. The joke: Dobermans are 100% grown at 1 yr, 90% physically, and 10% mentally, is very apt in Gunther's case. Gunther's absolute favorite activity is snuggling on the sofa first thing in the morning and then again right before bed. He is happiest when he can bury his long nose into his foster mom. He is super cuddly and once finished with his snuggling session, flops on his back and stretches all four legs as far as he can. He has never met a stranger, loves dogs of all sizes and is accepting of dog savvy cats. Gunther is full of love, devotion, and the desire to please his humans.
