Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet little Louie! Louie was found tied to a fence in a park in Georgia, abandoned, at the tender age of just 4 months old, along with a littermate. Louie finally made his way to our rescue in MD and is looking for a forever home.
Louie is now about 7 months old, about 38 lbs. and will likely be a medium sized dog when full grown. We have absolutely no idea what his breed mix is, but best guess is he kind of looks like he might have some doberman and some lab in him, but we make no guarantees! What we do know is he is terribly cute, and super playful and happy!
Louie is currently being fostered in a home with children and another dog, and previously in Georgia lived in a home with a lot of other dogs and cats. He is great with everyone! He loves his human foster sister, and is cuddly and snuggly with his foster family. He actually won the battle about sleeping on their beds! He is described as being "super patient with the kids" in the home, is a fast learner, takes treats gently, and sits well on command. He LOVES being outside and will make a great watch dog. He alerts his family when there is something going on, but is not an overly excessive barker. He does not like leashes yet, and has an issue with being grabbed by the collar, but we believe that may be tied to a previous bad experience, as we have seen this before in dogs who were yoked at one point. They never forget! However, with patience, the use of a harness, and lots of positive reinforcement, they can learn that walks are fun! He is also described as being the Paw Patrol "Chase" but in real life! his coat is a gorgeous deep dark, dark brown, but when brushed the other way is a lovely deep golden brown color - very unique!
Louie is housebroken, and will head to the nearest door when he has to use the bathroom. He is not destructive, but also has access to tons of toys and chews.
Louie is currently 38 lbs. and is not expected to be terribly large when full grown. He has been neutered, microchipped, tested negative for heartworm, and is on heartworm prevention. He is up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, has been de-wormed, and has been given a clean bill of health.
