🗯️ HERE'S THE SCOOP!
Oh our little, big, buddy. Thinking back to three weeks ago before we had Mikey and he was at the city shelter, breaks my heart. He was abandoned after his people moved, left to fend for himself. Good neighbors cared for him but then it became too cold and they decided he deserved better. And boy did he!
When I met this big nameless boy, he meowed the saddest meow ever and didn't even lift his head. He was distressed and scared to death. Wouldn't eat a thing. His pale gold eyes, so full of gloom. Due to his physical and mental shut down in the shelter, he was not a good candidate for adoption there, so we decided to pull him for rescue so we could make sure his next home, would be the last home he'd ever need.
👨👩👧👦 FAMILY GOALS!
OH Mikey! What an absolute delight. I call him the Lazy Lumberjack. He is L. A. Z. Y. and a big, strong man's man 😂 When cats first arrived at the facility, they spend anywhere from 24 hours to a week decompressing. Usually they come from high stress situations or are ill or injured, so they take advantage of the cozy and serene environment and really catch up on their rest and healing. Well, Mikey is still kind of in that phase, so we've determined he is just a bum and likes to do nothing 🤣 He is perma-chill.
Again, Mikey is a very laid back, low energy, sweetheart. He will play but doesn't require that overwhelming amount of stimulation and activity to stay happy. Give him a round about and some fuzzy balls and he's good to go.. He also likes Catnip and cardboard flats.
He doesn't mind being hugged but isn't a carry around kind of boy. He would really be a great companion for an older person or couple as he provides the laugh and love of a friend but isn't high maintanance and bonds deeply to his people. He's the perfect catch potato pal.
Mikey is very sensitive, but not in a bad way. He thrives on routine and a calmer environment. He can be scared of things if they move too fast - like feet and hands. He just gets startled. I believe he was not always treated kindly and I get a very "I'm a pest, I'm sorry" vibe from him at times, meaning he has been treated that way in the past. If he thinks he is in the way or doing something wrong (like being on a window sill) he looks scared to death and runs. I kicked a toy for him with my foot once and he hid for like 30 minutes. :( We are working on positive reinforcement in that area. It's really of no concern, I just wanted it mentioned that he is really hard on himself at times. He's learning that he IS a good kitty and he can just be himself.
He's just happy to be warm and fed and be in your presence.
He loves food. Loves. Might keep an eye on his intake so he doesn't become overweight since his caloric intake to outtake ration is very uneven 😂🤣 #RELATABLE
🏃🏼 Mikey is OK with kids but scared at first, just because of that aforementioned sensitivity. Calmer, older kids would be best.
🐈 Mikey is good with cats but previously was bullied so needs some extra time to adjust.
🐕 Mikey is so so with dogs. He is scared of them but will adjust if the dogs aren't "in your face" playful.
🔹Mikey is litter trained and a really clean, well kept kitty. He doesn't shed excessively and his coat is now super shiny and soft thanks to our secret weapon: fish oil 😊

✔An approved adoption application needed BEFORE a meet and greet.
✌🏻 Two week home trial and then the adoption agreements are finalized, but commitment begins with the app.
🐈 Mikey's adoption fee is $100 (to help cover the cost of his rescue and care)
🌍 Located in North Platte NE, but non local adoptions are possible.
