My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTION PENDING! Bubba started a 2 week trial adoption on 3/30/19

Bubba Basenji Heeler Mix 2 years old 50 lbs-great with kids, women, men and dogs loves the water, playing and snuggling

Bubba (real name) is an affection guy who is an absolute social butterfly. He is a hit everywhere goes because he is so friendly. He is a happy confident goofy guy who loves to go to dog friendly events so he can meet new people and dogs. He is a joy to hang out with regardless if you are out in public or at home on the couch. He does enjoy sharing your space and having some part of his body on you. So he needs at least one person in the home that wants a dog that wants this type of close physical contact. He is very smart and within 2 days was going into his crate with either a point or the command "in". He is laid back & goes with the flow, but he is also playful. He is very obedient and knows his name very well. He is great with everyone he has met so far with include kids, dogs, women and men. He has meet the 2 foster cats that live in his foster home but they are not out loose to interact with the dogs in the home. He was very interested in the cats and wanted to explore them more than what the cats were comfortable with, but he never appeared prey driven. However, he would likely chase a cat that ran. Bubba loves taking walks and car rides. He enjoys playing fetch (still working on bringing it back), tug-of-war, keep away and throwing toys around and catching them. He loves to wrestle and play chase with the dogs in his foster home. When he got his first bath once out of the shelter, he seemed like he either was not too found of it or he was not used to it, however Bubba appears to like to play in water. His foster mom has a pool with a cover on it that can hold an elephant. He and another water dog in his foster home like to run across it to get wet. Bubba sits on command and loves participating in a green bean and blueberry toss every morning where he catches both in his mouth. Bubba is house trained, does not lift his leg and he hits the string of bells hanging on his foster mom's back door to go outside. He is crated when no one is home. He is also fed in his crate. Once he sees his foster mom walking to his crate with his food bowl, Bubba bets her to the crate and goes in without a command. He has been allowed to sleep wherever he wants at night.. He has also been crated at night. He does great in both situations. He chooses to sleep with his foster mom when he sleeps out of his crate. Bubba is a great companion that would be a fabulous match for a family with kids and at least one playful dog.

Budda's breed-we really cannot be sure of his breed since we have no idea of the breed of his parents however He has the Basenji curly Q tail, the Basenji body and ears as well as the low shedding factor. When he got his first bath once out of the shelter, he was alittle freaked out by the blow dryer so he was towel and air dried. He did shed while he was drying, but once dry he sheds very little. He is not barkless like the Basenji. He does bark appropriately but I would not consider him a barker. His coat resembles that coat of a Heeler with the black specks.

The video of Bubba playing with another dog was taken at the Mesquite Animal https://youtu.be/FlYGtG8MORo https://youtu.be/uogjrMaYgRc https://youtu.be/18ju4iDYOcU https://youtu.be/jgGI6uIm7ZIShelter

RESCUE STORY-
Bubba was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter in Texas on 11/26/18 in due to landlord issues. Former owner reports of Bubba that he is house trained. He likes car rides, playing with toys, fetching, and for going for walks. He is a lap-loving social "butterfly" who is curious, playful and active. He was scheduled to be euthanized on 12/30/18 so a new intake dog could have his kennel, but luckily for Bubba they did not euthanize him. He was pulled by a Co rescue on 1/3/19 who released Bubba to us on 1/26/19.

ADOPTION FEE $200 Bubba is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, heartworm negative, dewormed on hearworm preventative and microchippped.
