My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Isadora is an Old English Sheep Dog who we rescued from a life of pure neglect.

She has just completed her 3 weeks of Lodge and Learn at Rover Oaks Pet Resort. She learned the basics from walking on a leash, to sit, down and stay in place. She still needs on going training but is ready for a new forever home with someone that will continue her lessons. She still is a big playful pup ! She has also been enrolled in doggy daycare to keep her well-socialized.

We have very strong requirements for our adopters of our OES rescues. A lot of the time, the reason these dogs end up in horrible, matted condition and on the streets or in the shelters are because people get them as cute little fluffy puppies, but have no idea that these dogs need a lot of care. We always hear.. 'i've always wanted an OES' not realizing they are high maintenance, high energy dogs that need regular grooming which can be expensive. Isadora was surrendered to the shelter because her owner could not care for her any more. She was only 1 year old - matted to the skin, no training, and totally neglected . Our goal is to make sure that never happens again.
We only adopt to experienced OES owners. That means you must have owned or do own one now.
Having any other breed/rescue des not count....

You must have impeccable vets references. We require 3 years of records on your current OES dog; not just to check on annual vaccines and that your dog is on a monthly heart worm preventative, but that your dog is cared for and taken care of as per your vet's recommendations, If the vet says the dog needs dental work, x rays etc, we want to make sure that you did as your vet requested. Our dogs get top notch vet care and we want it to be continued,. We will require to talk personally to your vet.

We require a fully fenced in and secure yard and will require photos. She is not suitable for an apt or condo. We require no children under the age of 10 years. Isadora loves to run and play she can easily knock a child over as she is approx 60 lbs. She is fairly well house trained and will run out to the yard with the other dogs and now does a lot better on a leash, but will still get excited when you
first leash her up and does better on a harness for security.

We do not fly our dogs. We only transport to adopters that are on the Rescue Road Trips route and can pick up from them. Her fee is $1,000.00. That includes her transport, her interstate health cert and her adoption fee. She will come with all of her training info from Rover oaks pet resort.

If you are in MA, all dogs are subject to quarantine at the Ven Elger Kennels for 48 hours and the total fee will then be $1,125.00

OUR RESCUE POLICY - It is our rescue policy for all our dogs that we require a home with no children under the age of 10, and experienced dog owners only

The total adoption fee includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. We also provide a coupon for a free wellness visit to the South Wilton Vet group if convenient for you. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care.
