Here's what the humans have to say about me:
A bit about Sparkles:
Sparkles is a very sweet and mellow 5 year old female who absolutely loves people including kids. This past summer she was saved by an individual rescuer from euthanasia after her person died in hospice care and the family of her late human couldn’t/wouldn’t care for her. That rescuer asked us to help network for adoption and with food/vetting/supplies. Sparkles did not get along with small dogs in her late owners home. Sparkles did get along with two dog-friendly large dogs in her foster home. Sparkles was adopted shortly before Christmas and is not doing well with the neighborhood dogs, visiting family’s dogs, and she has on and off instigated scraps with the adopters large male. We are going to say she is dog selective. She has been able to coexist with adult male and female pit bulls even eating beside them without a reaction so she can do it, but it will take some work and patience to get her comfortable. We are looking for placement for Sparkles with no other pets or in a home that is comfortable doing a long decompression and slow introductions to other calm and dog friendly dogs. Due to her known past, any new place she goes should be willing to keep her world very small for a long while so she can find her footing and realize she is safe. That means she shouldn’t be introduced to humans or animals outside the new household for the first 4 weeks or so, and any existing animals she should only see and sniff through gates or crates for this time frame. This will make for the most successful transition.
