Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cheechie is an adorable Yorkie mix. He is 10 years old and weighs a chubby 16 lbs. Cheech is being fostered in Ft. Myers, FL. Cheechie’s adoption fee is $100.
UPDATED BIO 06/22/2019: Cheechie here – I wanted to give all my fans an update to let you know that I am doing okay and still waiting for my forever home. I am a very mellow boy with a sweet personality, just as quiet as can be and that’s how I like to live. No parties or wild stuff like these little hoodlum yorkies that I live with. Geesh, I can’t even watch a movie in peace around here.
I do have a heart mumur that requires me to take 4 different medications 2x a day, but they keep me going and I don’t have any complaints. I like medication time cuz I get tasty meatballs that foster mom hide the meds in. She's not fooling me at all – I’m a smart cookie who’s been around the block, but the meatballs are so worth taking. I just pretend that I don’t know so she will be happy and keep giving me meatballs. I am great on the leash, house-trained and will also use a pee-pee pad if the weather is bad.
If you are quiet and mellow, then we should hook up cuz I’m quiet and mellow too!
You won't be sorry if you adopt me, and we will both get to watch a movie in peace - together. BONUS! Ummmm, don’t ask me to be a guard dog cuz I’m more of a lover boy and don’t have a high-prey personality. So your squirrels, lizards, birds and possibly cats are safe with me.
Thanks for considering me. Oh, and I am really cute, too. So ….. in closing, my perfect home would be one with a laid-back atmosphere and attitude and someone to love me forever for the rest of my life. Oh, and I like to watch movies, don’t forget that one.
NOTE FROM FOSTER MOM: Please don’t turn away from this sweet and precious boy due to his age or the fact that he needs daily medication. He is an amazing companion dog who only wants his very own family to love. He will reward you with being your best couch buddy – and lot of love in return.
UPDATED BIO 05/14/2019: Cheech ie is a wonderful laid-back and mellow boy. He is a bigger yorkie mix boy who has a sweet personality, is leash-trained and will use a pee-pee pad. Don’t ask him to be a guard dog – Cheechie just wants to be a lover. He has a calm and loving personality, so squirrels, lizards, birds and possibly cats are safe with Cheech for sure.
Cheechie does have a Grade IV heart murmur and is under medical care. He will need to stay on heart meds for the rest of his life. His diet is being adjusted to help him lose some weight and become more active.
Cheechie came into rescue with his brother Chongie. They were placed in a crate and abandoned in a church parking lot with a bag of food. He loves his brother very much and it would be awesome if they could be adopted together. Their together adoption price is $250. But it would also be okay if they went to different forever homes as well. They both kinda do their own thing - Cheechie loves laying on the couch and watching TV and Chongieis very playful.
Cheechie’s perfect home would be a calm and quiet atmosphere with people to love him and let him live out his remaining years in comfort. If Chongie could come along, it would be perfect!

UPDATED BIO 04/13/2019: Hi everybody, it's Cheech here, lovingly called Cheechie at my foster home. I am a good boy but kinda on the lazy side – for now. Foster Mom said that I really need to be walked on a regular basis so that I can – ummmm – lose a bit of weight. Right now, my favorite thing to do is hang around the house and watch TV. What’s wrong with that? I would love to have a snack while I’m watching TV, but Foster Mom says “no no Cheechie. We are on a diet.” So I get a green bean for a snack. Wow!
I came into UYR with my buddy Chong. You may remember that our previous owner dropped us both off in a church parking lot and we were in a crate together. That wasn’t very nice, was it? But we won the lottery since a very nice person found us and got in touch with UYR – and we love our Foster Mom & Dad.
I love Chong very much and it would be awesome to be adopted into the same home with him, but I would also be okay if we went to different forever homes as well. We both kinda do our own thing - he only cares about playing – a lot - and I am more of a couch potato right now.
So .... if you have a quiet home and don't expect me to do any heavy lifting or wash windows, then I may be your perfect pal. I’ll be your constant buddy if you like to watch TV, as long as I get to go on several walks every day so that I can “slim down”. What does that even mean anyway?
UPDATED BIO 01/19/2019: Cheech and his brother Chong are acclimating nicely to their foster home after being abandoned in a crate dumped in a church parking lot, along with a bag of food. Cheech has seen the vet and began the process of updating his vaccinations. Thankfully both dogs are heartworm & fecal negative. Cheech does need a dental badly, but will a radiograph of his heart should be done prior to anesthesia since he has a Heart Murmur. He has been started on antibiotics for the skin infection from scratching due to an infestation of fleas and should feel better really soon.
Because Cheech is a chubby 16 lbs, Foster Mom has him on a weight-reduction diet so that he can be a healthier and happier weight. He does limp a bit in the rear, but it is hoped that there is nothing significant going on like a torn or rupture of his CCL (Cranial Cruciate Ligament) – similar to the ACL in humans. He is on a course of Metacam for two weeks to see if this gives him some relief. Stay tuned for more information on both Cheech and Chong as his foster parents get to know them better.
PLEASE NOTE: Cheech and Chong are bonded and must be adopted together.
