Description of pet
Coco is an adult Cockatoo who is currently in a foster home.
Coco's owner unfortunately passed away and left Coco and several other animals homeless. The remaining family knew very little about Coco. They knew his name was Bud, and he had been in the home at least 10 years. As he did not know his name, his foster calls him Coco or Coco Pop.
Coco was living in a wire dog crate instead of a parrot cage. He was allowed to spend a lot of time out unattended, resulting him in becoming destructive in the home. He was chewing on the windows, door frames, tables, book shelves and anything else wood. He was only eating a diet of peanuts and sunflower seeds with some type of finch or other small bird seed. Coco now enjoys a large cage and many different toys. His foster home as carefully positioned his cage to eliminate his reach to window sills and wall corners.
Coco is not a plucker or a screamer. However, he is cage aggressive/protective. He is not hand tame and does not allow handling or picking up. He has a good daily routine that his foster will happily explain. Coco does not talk. He makes a variety of sounds and he enjoys music playing. He is eating a commercially available parrot diet along with some fresh foods. He is not a fan of many "human" foods. He now only gets peanuts and seeds as a treat, not a diet staple. Coco does not offer to fly, even when frightened.
Coco will be a nice bird for someone who enjoys a looking at pet, rather than a cuddling pet. He is not for a beginner owner, and may not do well with kids as he will bite fingers poked into his cage. He is not exposed to the dogs in his foster home.
