Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there! Carly here! I am a tiny little girl at only 19.6 pounds, but I have a heart as big as the sky! At least that’s what foster mom says. I am only 2 or 3 years old, but I had a tough start to life, and I’m having to learn from the beginning what life as a pet is all about! I really struggled to trust people at first, but I’ve come to learn that my foster family will never hurt me, and even the big scary man in this family won’t hurt me! Even though I’m still afraid of many things, I am getting brave enough to explore and come to my foster family for pets and hugs. I still startle really easily, but foster mom says time and patience will take me a long way.
I am learning about car rides, and manners, and potty training, and toys, and baths, and walks, and dog parks. Some of those things I really like, such as toys and the dog park! I like to carry around the soft stuffies and rearrange them in my doggy bed. I’ve also been known to steal a sock or t-shirt and take them to my bed if someone leaves them on the floor!
I love running around off leash at the dog park! Foster mom thinks I probably didn’t get a chance to ever run around, because I really take advantage of it now! Sometimes I even manage to run right out of the winter coat she got for me!I am starting to get the hang of that potty training thing, but sometimes I can’t wait and I go in the house. Foster mom says I’m learning but it will take time. When I first came here, I was so afraid that I wouldn’t even come to her at the door, let alone get a leash clipped on and go outside. When I did come close, I would often flatten to the floor and piddle a little in fear. I hardly ever do that anymore! I come to her pretty often and go right outside with her!
Foster mom also says to tell you that I’m pretty quiet, but when I do howl, I sound like a coonhound three times my size! Wow! That’s a powerful Aroo! I get along with all the other dogs I’ve met, although I’m a little afraid of the bigger ones at first. If they like to run, I’ll run and play chase with them all day long. I look to my foster sisters to figure out how to act, what to do, and where to go, so a home with another confident dog would really help.
So there you have it! I am looking for a forever home that is patient and kind, and willing to work with my fearfulness. I promise to reward you with forever love and cuddles, and I’ll throw in some antics that make you smile too! If you are willing to give a chance to a work in progress, contact Midwest BREW and mention my name: Carly!
