My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stanley is a wonderful little Beagle boy.  He is young, approximately 11 months - a year old and currently weighs 23 lbs.  He is fully vetted and is a healthy boy.  He will make a great family pet for someone that is willing to continue with his training and enjoy making him an integral part of the family.

Here is what Stanley's foster family had to say about him:

Stanley is extremely friendly, very social, and amazing with friends, strangers, and other dogs. He is a very gentle dog, and would make a great family pet! He loves being around people, going for long walks through the city, and playing fetch. He has a tendency to occasionally check in on people in different rooms to make sure everybody is doing alright! He is very affectionate! Stanley appears to be in good health, and doesn't show any issues of concern. We were advised that he is about a year old. We think he's a bit younger than that (still a puppy-ish!).

Stanley is very social, and appears to be good with all age groups. His nature is very gentle. He has been great around children, and big groups of people as well! Stanley certainly doesn't seem shy. He loves everyone and wants to make anyone he is around happy. We do not have any other dogs in our home, however, we have taken Stanley around a lot of other dogs outside the home and he is great around all the dogs he comes across! He loves playing and is gentle with dogs of all sizes. We don't have a cat in the home, so we cannot attest to how well he reacts to them but he seems to be generally friendly to everything overall.

Stanley has been such an amazing dog. He does not seem to show any anxiety or fear in any situations. He will whine for a short while when we first leave the home but he does not bark when we leave, and after a few minutes, he is calm. When we come he is always relaxed, and often sitting by the door. Stanley loves going for walks and cuddling. Within a day he started trying to bring us to his leash! He loves being around other people and dogs. His activity level goes up and down. He gets excited and wants to play fetch, then will calm down, cuddle, and sleep. He is quiet in the home, unless we lock him out of a room (for example, our bedroom), because he knows he's being left out. However, he is quick to keep himself preoccupied by playing with his toys or going to relax.

Stanley has been an amazing dog. He is young, and will need a bit of time to learn some basic commands, however is has been VERY quick to learn what is and is not appropriate behaviour. (e.g., he knows not to scratch on doors, come into the bedroom, he has learned how to sit). He is young and still needs to learn the basics, however is quickly learning. He tends to chew on things he finds (like a shoe, or he'll play with his bowl). We haven't noticed this being a problem though. If we say "no" or "drop it" he knows to leave the item alone. We have taught Stanley how to sit. We are in the middle of teaching Stanley how to come and stay. He is a quick learner! He seems like he is on his way to being house trained. He is getting better as we train him. He rarely has accidents anymore. He doesn't have accidents when we leave him during the day for work, or overnight. We are in the middle of crate training him. He is starting to get much more comfortable with his crate. He sometimes goes in on his own to relax. At night he whines for about 15 minutes but then stays quiet throughout the night.

He doesn't walk well on a leash, however, he is small (23 pounds), so it's not too problematic (our old dog was 80 pounds, so it was very important to train him because he would pull some people down!). After a few minutes on a walk, he starts to walk much nicer. Further training in this area and he will be great. We live in a condo, so he will run out the door if he has the opportunity, then often come quickly back to us. When we take him outside the home (off leash) he always stays near by! He rides well in the car.

Stanley is a very good dog with an incredible heart. He's friendly, very affectionate, and loves being around people. He will fit well with a family who wants to make him an integral part of their life. Somebody who wants a kind, affectionate dog who is willing to give him the love and attention he deserves!
