Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Indy is a handsome 9 yr old blue boy who has a strong philosophy that you are only as old as you feel....and he feels like a 3 yr old! The first words from one of our veterinarians mouth upon meeting Indy: "no way is this a 9 yr old dog." Indy was returned to our program when his human mom suffered some serious health setbacks. Indy is super Velcro and tends to glue himself to the man of the house. He likes boundaries and thrives in a household that is able to provide them. He tends to be a bit of a bully with other dogs, especially those who are more timid or weaker. He will push for play and interaction to the point of being quite obnoxious, however, he accepts it when a strong female puts him in his place. Indy can tell the difference from a snarl that means "Go away" and one that means "Keep it up buddy and this will be your last stand!" and only seems to respect the latter. One of his 14 yr old, one-eyed, 55 lbs foster sisters backed him into a corner and he never bothered her again, refusing to make eye contact and keeping a wide berth from that point forward. He may be obnoxious, but he is by no means stupid! He knows that pushy girls were meant to be in charge. He also does best with an assertive owner who can provide equal amounts of love, patience and gentle discipline. He does have down time and his favorite past time is to bury his head into his human, he also does it with the sofa cushions. A crate provides Indy a sense of security and he prefers to be fed and take naps in the safety of his confines. He is very ball driven, knows his basic requests, has a fairly strong prey drive, and likes the sound of his own voice. He has a barn at his foster home, complete with toads, mice and voles. Hunting these little varmints is one of his absolute favorite activities! He is always trying to flush them out from under something....some are real and others are imagined but he KNOWS he saw of sniffed them at one time. Indy is a comical dog who feels Life is Meant to be a Party, and would be best matched with an owner who shares his sense of humor and appreciates his antics. He is a smart tall dog who isn't too proud to steal food if it is left at eye level so food filled counters and plates at eye level look exactly like an All-you-can-eat buffet to Indy. Indy is not your typical senior; he has a beautiful youthful soul and is desperate to share it with a human best friend.
