My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tootsie is a sweet 10 year old, 11.12 pound Yorkie Mix. This little girl is most likely a Chorkie, a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix. She is being fostered in Odessa, FL.

UPDATED BIO 02/09/2019: Foster mom continues to say that Tootsie is the sweetest little dog. She is happy all the time and her tail is constantly wagging. She is very smart and comes when called, and she loves sitting on your lap and especially loves cuddling. Tootsie loves to play fetch with her ball and wants to play with the other dogs in the house.

After coming into UYR from another rescue group, Tootsie has had quite a busy time. It was discovered that she had developed what appeared to be small mammary masses which appeared over a short period of time. After several consultations with two different vets, the decision was made to remove the mammary growths and do a biopsy to determine their origin. Tootsie had her B-I-G surgery on 02/04 and she is recuperating nicely and feeling better each day. The results from the biopsy showed that the masses were benign mammary gland adenomas and because the surgical excision was complete, local recurrence is unlikely. An adenoma (or neoplasm) is among the most common tumors of a female dog.

Tootsie will need to remain in her foster home for several weeks while a culture is being grown to determine the origin of her recurrent UTI’s. Once we have this information, we will be able to get her on the appropriate antibiotic and knock it out so that this little Princess can find her forever home. Tootsie should be good as new very soon!

Tootsie has had quite a lot going on with her since she was rescued by another rescue group from a county shelter, but she is a real trooper. UYR stepped up to take her from the other rescue group who thought she would have a better chance at being adopted from a breed-specific group. Her recent surgery was an unexpected expense and we are asking our angel donors to donate towards her surgery costs so that UYR can continue to help other little dogs like her.

PLEASE NOTE: Tootsie cannot be placed in a home with children under the age of 14 years old. No Exceptions please.

INITIAL BIO 01/5/2019: Say hello to sweet Tootsie. This little girl is sweeter than a tootsie roll and just as lovable. She was originally surrendered to a local animal shelter. While there she had an operation to remove bladder stones and was fully vaccinated. She was pulled by another rescue, however because they mostly had big dogs in the home, Tootsie was having a hard time fitting in. The rescue called United Yorkie Rescue to see if we can take this little girl, and of course we said yes.

Tootsie loves to cuddle, is the perfect lap dog, and will follow you everywhere. Tootsie doesn’t like young children. They move too fast for her. Tootsie has fully recovered from the surgery to remove bladder stones. She enjoys the company of other dogs, and enjoys play time and lap time. She is a happy well-adjusted little girl and gets very attached to her person. She was attached to her previous foster mom, but since coming into UYR we saw that she will attach herself to whomever she goes with that shows her the love she so richly deserves. Tootsie is very affectionate and would like your attention 24/7. She loves walks, car rides and being with you wherever you go!

Tootsie is spayed, heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, microchipped, current on flea and heartworm preventatives, and has had a dental. She will do her business outside and on potty pads, but may mark occasionally when she goes into a new home until she gets accustomed to the new routine.

Tootsie is almost ready for her forever home and can be adopted as soon as her foster parents know what kind of home would be best for this sweetheart. She would love someone home with her most of the day. Tootsie doesn't like to be alone too long, since we know she loves her person so much and wants them with her as much as possible. Maybe Tootsie is the girl for you. No children under 14 years of age.
