Gordon is a 3 year old shepherd/terrier mix that wants nothing more than to have a family to love. Gordon was originally turned into a shelter when his military family received orders to relocate to another base. They were heartbroken that they were unable to take him along and hope that he will find a family that will love him as much as they did.
Gordon is an easy going guy that loves everyone and gets along well with kids. He is an Alfa Dog and likes things to go his way with other dogs, so we are suggesting he goes to a home without other dogs. He also is best in a home without cats.
Don’t let his looks deceive you as his coloring, erect stance and alert-erect ears can at first fool you, but this guy is nothing but a love. He will give kisses and nudge you with his nose when you stop petting him.
He is tall, lean and could use a few extra pounds (about 42 lbs now) but is active and in good health. He loves treats and will wait patiently sitting pretty and giving paw just to please you. He listens to commands well, but needs a bit of work with his manners. He jumps up when excited and puts his paws up on the counter to see what he can find from time to time.
Gordon has had a few accidents, but is quickly learning the routine and appears to be for the most part housebroken. He loves to be where you are and has been known to a jump a gate in the house when attempting to be restricted to one area and would need at least a 6 ft. fenced yard or several leash walks per day. Gordon loves to be outdoors and would make a great walking or jogging companion for those that actively jog or hike. All in all, he is easily trainable and with just a bit of additional training he can become the perfect family pet.
Gordon has been neutered is up to date on all shots, microchipped and ready to go to his forever home.

PLEASE consider becoming a foster home, and find out how rewarding it can be! A Journey Home provides basic needs, including medical expenses at our participating clinics located in Wheaton, Naperville, and Geneva. You supply the love!
