Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Suki! (Formerly Meech)
Suki is a gentle soul who was dealt a disappointing hand of cards after trusting the same owner for all 7 years of his life. Suki came into the NYC ACC shelter as an owner surrender. Suki was terrified of his new unknown surroundings and displayed great fear in the shelter and was deemed too risky for regular adoption, and after developing the typical shelter cold, Suki was placed at risk to be euthanized and may have not made it just another day. I fell completely in love with his helpless and terrified green eyed gaze in his shelter photo and quickly pulled him to be transported to our rescue - safe at last! (and let me tell you, this guy knew it the minute he arrived.)
Upon arrival to our rescue I was absolutely stunned to see not only was Suki not aggressive at all, but what a complete gentle LOVE BUG this guy really is. All it took was knowing he was now in a safe and comfortable environment and Suki instantly began rubbing up against my arms and legs, purring, snuggling up on my lap just in the first night, and completely allowed all handling. His illness has quickly subsided with a round of antibiotics and some basic TLC.
Suki is a big guy with a tall stature with a calm & low activity level. He loves playing with the laser pointer in my foster room but is perfectly happy lounging around in the sun and sitting on my lap. He greets me by flopping over onto his back, rolling around chirping & begging to be pet! He is pretty vocal and loves to chit chat!
Suki is 7 years young which is considered an early senior cat, however cats often live to be upwards of 20 years old, so Suki has many many years of love to give a new family and would love the opportunity to be a part of yours. Suki is fully up to date medically with both rabies and FVRCP vaccines, is microchipped, FIV/Felv Negative, and will be neutered prior to adoption. While Suki loves to be pet and snuggle up to people, he may do best in a home without young children as he he will give warning signs when he's decided he's had enough love for a bit. He's been very social with other cats in the rescue and has been overall uninterested in dogs, so we think Suki would do very well in a home with other animals. While Suki displayed immediate trust the moment he met me, he still deserves nothing more than to be proven his next human won't give up on him for trivial reasons. How incredible that something so overlooked can end up being something so special.
Can you give Suki a home he can feel loved in for the rest of his life? Please email us at rescue@fromhopetohome.org with any questions regarding Suki or submit an adoption application at www.fromhopetohome.org/apply-to-adopt
