In a short paragraph Please provide any other details or a brief overview of your foster dog: Piper was found as a stray in Northern Manitoba
He is a very timid dog by nature and would not survive the winter as he was losing the battle with other stray male dogs.
Piper was placed in a foster home and had a taste of warmth, love and security.
Piper has been with me for almost a month and he wants nothing more than to be loved. He now has the taste of security and love and he has no intentions of going back to life on the streets.
Living in foster homes Piper has many firsts like not scrounging for his food, constantly looking over his back, being petted, loved, kissed and oh yes he loves hugs.
Piper is currently fostered with 4 other dogs, 3 female and 1 male (he is deaf) and 2 cats. He has the most patience and tolerance that I have seen in a stray dog as met several dogs including small dogs that liked nothing more than to continually bark in his face and he had no reaction whatsoever. Ruckus, the other male dog is deaf and Piper displays the outmost patience with him as Ruckus is deaf and he often misses some “signs” from Piper. The two of them together wrestling and running around my yard is a wonderful sight to see.
Piper had travelled home with me for Christmas and did very well in the vehicle for 8 hrs. He had spent the night with a family member as the sole dog and had let the house know that he was missing his “pack” by howling and pacing throughout the night despite numerous attempts for him to join the family in their rooms.
Piper only issue is that he does have some minor aggression with bones, as he will let the other dogs know that it is his bone by growling first. He does eat them with no issues with my other dogs and only growls if they attempt to steal it from him. He has no food guarding towards humans whatsoever as anyone including kids can go up to him when eating a bone or a treat and he drops it immediately.
Piper would also do best with a fenced in yard as he does love to spend time outside making snow angels and is unsure what to do if tied on a leash
