Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bear is a 6 years old German Shepard Lab mix. He is looking for a new home because he hasn't adjusted well to the small toddler in his home. Bear would be a great fit for any family with older children that understands he doesn't want to be chased and is a bit timid at first. Bear has worked with a trainer and is clicker and crate trained. He does nip if put in a situation he is uncomfortable with, but does show the proper warning signs when under duress. Basically, he is fearful most likely from being abused as a puppy, so needs a calmer environment in a home so he can feel safe.
He currently lives in a home with several children and three other dogs (a lab, a golden, and a doxie mix). He does better as the dominant dog, but we have had success introducing him to other dogs in common areas. He was rescued as a puppy from Ohana animal rescue where his parents were told he was abused as a puppy.
He walks best with a harness and he is a dog that tends to bark when seeing other dogs, but as previously stated, he is clicker trained. He enjoys the lake, hiking and playing outside. During the summer he also likes to lay outside. Please let Angie know if you have interest or any questions about Bear. He is a courtesy post for Valley Dogs Rescue.
