Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Drake is back up for adoption. He was adopted a month ago and is doing beautifully inside the home with his new fur buddies, however he is exhibiting insecurities. In fact his owners say " he is the most gentle dog in our home and with their daughter" and this decision to re home Drake is heartbreaking. When he has been out of the house on trips to home depot and the vet he seems to pick and choose the people he feels comfortable with. This means he can act fine and then all of the sudden with particular people lung if they get too close. He had done excellent at the vet and groomers, but today when he went to the vet, the vet felt he needed to be muzzled. Please keep in mind he has never bitten anyone, he is just a very big guy and his behavior can be intimidating to some. Although this is the first time this has occurred his family is thinking he would be a better fit for a more experienced owner.
Drake needs time to get acclimated to his new home, and take baby steps for new experiences. He is a loving dog, who knows all his commands, he will shake, sit, lay down and just loves to be around his people. While in foster he did excellent in the car and on outings to tractor supply. He is potty trained and good on the leash, however, sometimes if he sees another dog, he gets soo excited, he will want to run up to them to say hi. This is why he needs a experienced adopter to make sure they are always in control. Drake is very strong and very big. He needs a setting where he can at first take time get used to new visitors in the house as he can be reactive and bark at them. Drake will truly be a special dog for someone.
